Nepal as a tour and holiday destination
Nepal is best known for its mountains. The Himalayas offer some of the best trekking opportunities in the world, including treks to the world-famous Everest Base Camp. Nepal is India’s neighbour and although its culture has many similarities to India, it also has many differences. It is a good idea to spend some time in the capital Kathmandu. There are many interesting attractions in Kathmandu, including major Buddhist temples. The Boudhanath and the Swayambhunath temples both belong to the most important Buddhist destinations in South Asia.

Things to do in Nepal
Most visitors come to Nepal to trek, and the country attracts professional mountaineers. For visitors looking for a trekking holiday, one of the most popular routes is the Annapurna Trek. Many travel agents offer guided tours for all levels of trekkers. You can hire porters and guides for your trek to make walking easier. Teahouse treks involve sleeping in teahouses (lodges) on the route, and the teahouses also provide food. There is good shopping in Nepal; many people buy Buddhist thangka paintings and handicrafts. You can find these in Kathmandu or in Pokhara, another popular tourist destination. Both are also known for great restaurants.

Best time to visit Nepal
The best times for trekking in Nepal are September through November and March to June, but June will already see some rains. The rainy season begins around June and although you can visit Nepal during the monsoon, it will be very wet. The winter months December to February are cold, and many mountain passes are closed. Nepal is both Hindu and Buddhist, and there are many colorful religious festivals throughout the year. You should have a basic level of fitness before trekking, and you should prepare for your trip by doing some walks back home. If you are interested in trekking, you definitely won’t want to miss out Nepal!
