Poland as a tour and holiday destination
Poland has long been ignored as a tourist destination, but now, thanks to its attractive countryside, beautiful cities and one of the host countries for the Euro 2012 football competition, visitors are waking up to the possibilities the country offers.

Warsaw, the capital, has painstakingly reconstructed its old town after the ravages of its recent history. Stroll through the restored streets and enjoy the vibe of this thriving city or explore the country’s dark past in the numerous museums.

The city of Krakow is the largest draw to Poland. Exploring the old town reveals something new each time and a climb up the 13th century Gothic Renaissance Town Hall tower allows you to take in the pretty main square from above. Krakow is filled with squares, churches and tiny palaces, and is proud of its link to the former Pope John Paul II. The Jewish quarter, Kamierz, provides a fascinating insight into the Jewish counterpart of the predominantly Roman Catholic culture of the country. A day trip to the Tatras mountains for a hike or to the famous Wieliczka Salt Mine, is also well worth the while.
