A tapestry takes different threads and colors, and weaves them together into a beautiful design. That’s what this Italy tour—Italian Tapestry—does. It weaves together Italy’s most famous cities, its must-see attractions, and its marvelous scenery to create a wonderful vacation. You’ll overnight on Venice Island, Florence, Siena, Rome, and Sorrento. You’ll visit each city’s well-known landmarks and attractions, such as St. Mark’s Square in Venice; the Academy of Fine Arts with Michelangelo’s David in Florence; the Piazza del Campo in Siena, where the Palio medieval-style horse race is held; and the Colosseum in Rome, where you can imagine what it was like to partake in the deadly gladiatorial fights. Plus, Globus has worked hard behind the scenes to get you front and center at many of these sights with special VIP access. Other highlights of this Italy tour include a jetfoil ride from Sorrento to the world-famous Isle of Capri, where you’ll ride the funicular to the village for a guided tour and free time to explore. In Pompeii, a guided walking tour introduces you to the excavations of the city both destroyed and preserved by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. This preserved town gives you an amazingly detailed look into life 2,000 years ago at the peak of the Roman Empire. All of this—plus a balsamic vinegar tasting in Modena and much more—come together perfectly to create an Italy vacation like no other!

Description: Nested on a natural hillock about 12 miles (20 km) from Siena, Monteriggioni is undoubtedly one of the most classical, well preserved and best known medieval walled towns. Even the Italian poet Dante Alighieri mentions his 'round enclosure' in the Divine Comedy (Hell, chant XXXI vv. 40-41). The town was built by the Senesis in the 13th century and its ideal position allowed them to control the Elsa and Staggia Valleys in the direction of Florence, the historic enemy of Siena, that at that time was rapidly expanding its territory. The walls, nearly intact, cover a length of 570 meters and are alternated by 14 towers and two gates, the Senese Gate and the Florence Gate. Recently a part of the wall walk of the town walls has been restored and made accessible. From the top of the walled circuit, it is possible to admire the surrounding Chianti countryside. After the visit let us spoil you with a delicious 4-course dinner, including unlimited drinks, in a traditional family owned agriturismo (farmhouse). Taste locally produced wines, Italian antipasti, home made pasta and discover exactly what cherries have to do with all of this...?
