LEIPZIG Orientation of the city and free time this evening. 81 mi / 130 km TOUR HIGHLIGHT HISTORIC SPOT While originally built as a castle in the middle-ages, its utilisation changed numerous times through history. It reached notoriety during WW2 when it was designated to be a Prisoner of War Camp for Allied Officers. Due to its location Field Marshall Goring declared it 'escape-proof', he was soon proved wrong when many daring escape plans were hatched, including the building of a glider!
