What To Expect
See the beauty of the fjords with fewer crowds on this off-season escorted tour of Norway. Your adventure begins in Oslo, home of the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. Go sightseeing with an expert Local Guide to see the National Theatre (home of Henrik Ibsen’s plays), Parliament and the Royal Palace, as well as the magnificent display of Gustav Vigeland’s sculptures in Frogner Park. From Oslo, you’ll drive northwest through Hallingdal—a large valley, rich in the traditions of iron production, cattle trade, folk art, music, and dance. You’ll pass through the world’s longest road tunnel to Aurland on your way to the beautiful village of Flåm, situated at the head of Aurlandsfjord.Your stay in Flåm includes a boat ride on the spectacular Naerøyfjord—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue on to Bergen, the “City of Seven Mountains,” where you’ll take a drive to see Bergenhus Fortress, the Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf, Bergen’s harbor, and the famous fish market. Take a step back in time through the cobblestone streets lined by multi-hued wooden houses that are quintessentially Norwegian. Travel back via train to Oslo through the Hardangervidda mountain plateau. Fly from Oslo to the lively and vibrant town of Tromsø, where you enjoy an orientation walk and visit to the Arctic Cathedral. This two-night stay gives you the opportunity to take part join an optional excursion to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).
