Itinerary

• Day 1: ARRIVE TUNIS AIRPORT – TUNIS

  Upon arrival at the Tunis airport , assistance and transfer to your hotel located in the heart of Tunis old town. Spend the rest of the day at own leisure.

• Day 2: TUNIS – BARDO – CARTHAGE – SIDI BOU SAID - TUNIS

  After breakfast, visit the world famous Bardo Museum which houses the finest collection of Roman mosaics in the world. Next we go for a short orientation tour by foot of the Old Medina. The Medina is full of monuments from both the Arab and Turkish periods.Continue to the site of ancient Carthage. founded by Phoenician traders from the Levant as a trading depot en route to south-west Europe, it eventually became an independent and powerful entity in its own right. This aroused Rome’s long-term enmity and there followed the famous Punic Wars which eventually saw Carthage’s total destruction. This will include the Byrsa Hill where Carthage was founded, c. 814 BC according to Roman sources; a site featuring the characteristic Tophet Graves of the Carthaginians; and the Archaeological Park centered on the Antonin Baths. Then to the charming village of Sidi Bou Saïd, picturesque village perched on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Have some free time in the village before we drive back to the hotel in Tunis.

• Day 3: TUNIS – TESTOUR – DOUGGA - KAIROUAN

  After breakfast, check out from Tunis and drive into the very fertile north western part of Tunisia and was the centre of a huge area of agricultural activity on the grain trade.
  
  Our first stop is the Andalusian village of Testour ,continue to Dougga known for one of the most well-preserved Roman cities archaeological sites. Lastly to the holy town of Kairouan for overnight.

• Day 4: KAIROUAN – 4X4 ONG JEMAL- TOZEUR

  After breakfast, visit Kairouan a purely Arab city filled with outstanding examples of the finest Islamic architecture in Tunisia.Visit the Great Mosque of OKBA (a UNESCO World Heritage)and the Mausoleum of Sidi Sahabi, a companion of the Prophet Mohamed. Then a walking tour into the old town of Kairouan to see the ancient market place encircled by 11th-century walls.
  
  Continue to the town of Tozeur with the main attraction of this desert city is its vast oasis. Check in to our accommodation , you may choose to rest or continue your exploration by taking a horse-drawn carriage into the oasis (optional excursion).
  
  We will also learn about the date harvest and have the opportunity to sample some local dates.
  
  Late afternoon take the 4X4 cars to Ong Jemal, , the desert site was used to be one of sets the Star Wars movies (episode 1 and 2 and Lars farm episode 2, 3 and 4). Free time to take pictures in the desert during the sun set time and then back to the hotel in Tozeur.

• Day 5: TOZEUR - 4X4 TO CHEBIKA & TAMERZA – CHOTT JERID – DOUZ

  After breakfast, drive to the Mountain Oases of Chebika and Tamerza. In Chebika, we take a walk to see the Berber village, waterfalls and the spring of the water, also to the picturesque village of Tamerza, with its spectacular sightseeing made famous in the film, The English Patient.
  
  Drive across the Chott el Jerid, the Great Salt Lake, the barrier between the Sahara and fertile North. We may see some mirages on the horizon if we are lucky.
  
  Arrival to the town of Douz , also called the “Gateway of the Sahara”. Visit of the local market and have the chance to experience an camel ride in the sand dunes (Optional excursion).

• Day 6: DOUZ –MATMATA – TOUJANE – CHENINI - TATAOUINE

  After breakfast, departure north to Matmata of Star Wars notoriety, but more importantly, center of the most extensive number of traditional troglodyte pit homes in the region. These simple underground dwellings was built to escape the extremes of weather and to any unwelcome invaders to get a feel for troglodyte living.
  
  We will visit one of these dwelling caves, where scenes from the Lars homestead in Star Wars were filmed. Also explore the Ksour district centred on the rugged hills of the Jebel Dahar Range , first to the mountain villages of Chenini and Toujane. These villages are made up of cave houses built on the slopes of a mountain with a white mosque in the midst.

• Day 7: TATAOUINE – KSAR AOULED SOLTAN - DJERBA

  After breakfast, visit to Ksar Ouled Soutane. This well-preserved fortified ksar is built completely of dry mud. Then continue to explore the Djerba Island and its major monument including the Jews Synagogue, the pottery town of Gualala, Djerbahood and the souks.
  
  After check in , spend the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner will be arranged in a local restaurant

• Day 8: DJERBA – EL JEM – SOUSSE

  After breakfast , willdo a tour by boat trip and discover the Island of “Les flaments Roses” ( Subject to weather condition).
  
  Departure to El Jem to visit the largest and most spectacular Roman amphitheater in North Africa. Continue to the coastal town Sousse and visit its old town called Medina (a UNESCO World Heritage).

• Day 9: SOUSSE – DEPART TUNIS

  Check out and based on your flight schedule , transfer
  to Tunis airport for your departure flight.
