Continue to Gullfoss, the stunning “Golden Waterfall,” and explore the Geysir hot spring area, where Strokkur erupts regularly. Experience Icelandic local life with a visit to a family-run farm that grows tomatoes using geothermal energy, with a chance to tour the greenhouse and taste fresh Icelandic tomatoes.

Day begins with breakfast at your hotel. You’ll explore Þjórsárdalur valley, known for its diverse landscapes including birch woods, lava fields, rivers, and waterfalls. If the weather permits, you’ll get a view of Mt. Hekla, a prominent volcano. Visit Stöng to see a replica of a Viking-age longhouse buried by a volcanic eruption, famously a Game of Thrones Season 4 filming location.

Next, drive through the picturesque farmlands of Iceland’s South Shore, stopping at Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, each with its own unique charm. Proceed to Dyrhólaey*, a natural rock arch, and Reynisfjara’s black sand beaches, known for their dramatic waves. The day concludes in Vík, Iceland’s southernmost town.

An Icelandic Saga says the area is protected by a half-troll living on the glacier, adding a sense of magic to the experience.
