The afternoon is completely devoted to exploring this lively, historic coastal town. Today features an unforgettable journey into the rugged wild of western Madagascar. Board your 4×4 vehicle and drive through dry, sandy tracks into the deciduous Kirindy Forest Reserve. Embark on a fascinating 4-hour guided trek through the dense dry forest, a prime sanctuary for viewing rare wildlife, most notably the Fosa—Madagascar’s largest endemic mammal carnivore. You will also track giant jumping rats and up to 8 species of lemurs. After lunch at leisure, drive to visit the unique Sacred Baobab and the whimsical “Baobab in Love.” Late in the afternoon, arrive at the world-famous Avenue of the Baobabs. Spend time walking among these giant, 800-year-old Grandidier’s Baobab trees and witness the spectacular Madagascar sunset casting dramatic silhouettes against a fiery orange sky before returning to the resort.

Visit traditional marquetry and silk workshops, and stroll the vibrant streets to mingle with local characters. If traveling between July and September, you may catch a glimpse of the sacred Famadihana (turning of the bones) ceremonies along the hillsides. After lunch at leisure, continue your journey as the landscape shifts into lush tropical foliage. Arrive at the misty rainforest borders of Ranomafana National Park by sunset and check in to your hotel.
