Day 2 Hobart – Strahan
Mount Field National Park offers World Heritage listed wilderness with towering eucalypts (some of the tallest on Earth) and roaring waterfalls that turn up the drama from the moment you enter. In numerous ways, Russell Falls will leave you speechless. The deepest freshwater lake in Australia, Lake St. Clair, reaches your senses just when you thought the natural world could not get any more humble. The Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, which is classified as a World Heritage Site, is accessed through Strahan, which is bounded by a number of waterways.

Day 3 Strahan
The inky waters of the Gordon River and Macquarie Harbour – given their colour by amber button- grass tannins – are as eery as they are beautiful, the mirror-like surface only broken by your Gordon River chariot as you cruise through Hells Gates, the treacherous entrance to the harbour before returning to Sarah Island. The stunning scenery of this part of the state with its grim history as a penal colony; a place where convicts would fell Huon pines for boat building. Disembark at Heritage Landing to view one of these 500-year-old majestic trees. Safely back on dry land, it’s soon time to discover ‘The Ship That Never Was’, the dramatic and hilarious true story of the Great Escape from Sarah Island! You’ll see it performed live by a group of theatre professionals.

Day 4 Strahan - Cradle Mountain - Burnie
As you explore Dove Lake on your Cradle Mountain tour, the untamed alpine moorlands serve as a natural draw for nature enthusiasts, and today your journey truly soars to new heights with a visit to the 1,545-meter Cradle Mountain. The enigmatic and reclusive Tasmanian Devil resides in the breathtaking and unspoiled nature of Cradle Mountain. You may explore Devils at Cradle and gain a comprehensive understanding of how it operates by taking a Day Keeper tour. Your participation in this tour will directly contribute to the conservation of these creatures and other threatened species. Head towards the picturesque northwest coast for your overnight stay this afternoon, leaving the Central Highlands behind.

Day 5 Burnie - Launceston
Table Cape, often known as “The Cape” by the locals, is 180 meters high and provides breathtaking views of Tasmania’s coastline, making it by far Wynyard’s most outstanding natural wonder. You can see mountain ranges more than 175 kilometers distant from Table Cape Lookout, which is reached by driving to the summit of the remnants of a volcano that formed 12 million years ago. We haven’t yet come across a town with a more adorable name than Penguin. The statues of penguins, some over three meters tall, are everywhere, and locals love it for that reason. Along the northwest coast, you will also travel through Ulverstone and Sheffield, dubbed “The Town of Murals” because of its more than 100 enormous murals that highlight the area’s colorful past and distinctive residents. All this exploring builds an appetite. Refuel at Ashgrove Tasmanian Farm, where happy cows contribute to award- winning cheeses – everything from cheddar and red Leicester to creamy Tasmanian blue. For lovers of sweeter delights, why not treat yourself to a delicious locally made ice cream (own expense).
