Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 Arrival Paro - Thimpu
(1.5 Hrs Drive)
Upon arrival at Paro Airport, meet your driver and transfer to Thimphu for hotel check-in. After settling in, proceed for a city tour starting with a visit to the majestic Trashichhoedzong, an impressive fortress that houses the King’s offices and the central monastic body, followed by a stroll through the Thimphu Local Crafts Bazaar, where you can explore a vibrant collection of handmade Bhutanese crafts and traditional textiles.
Day 2 Thimpu
After breakfast at the hotel, continue your cultural tour of Thimphu with a visit to the National Library, which preserves ancient Buddhist texts and manuscripts. Next, visit the Institute for Zorig Chusum, a school dedicated to teaching Bhutan’s traditional arts, followed by the Textile Museum, which displays Bhutanese weaving and fabrics. Proceed to Pangri Zampa, a historic monastery and astrology school, and then visit Buddha Point to admire the giant Buddha statue and panoramic valley views. End the day at the King’s Memorial Chorten, a popular stupa for daily worship, before returning to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 3 Thimpu - Punakha
(3 hrs drive)
After breakfast at the hotel, drive from Thimphu to Punakha via the scenic Dochula Pass, famous for its 108 chortens and stunning mountain views. Upon arrival in Punakha, visit the beautiful Punakha Dzong, a riverside fortress and monastery renowned for its architecture and spiritual significance. Continue to Chimi Lhakhang, a temple known for fertility blessings, and explore Punakha Village, a traditional settlement offering a glimpse into rural Bhutanese life. Overnight stay in Punakha.

Day 4 Punakha
After breakfast at the hotel, spend the day exploring Punakha’s spiritual highlights. Visit Khamsum Yuelley Chorten, a hilltop chorten that offers panoramic views of the valley, followed by Sangchhen Dorji Nunnery, a peaceful monastery known for its fine architecture and serene atmosphere. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Punakha.

Day 5 Punakha - Paro
After breakfast at the hotel, drive back to Paro, stopping at Simtokha Dzong, the oldest dzong in Bhutan, which now serves as a learning center. In Paro, visit Ta Dzong, a former watchtower now functioning as the national museum, and Rinpung Dzong, a historic fortress of great religious and cultural significance. Check in to the hotel and overnight stay in Paro.

Day 6 Paro
After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a memorable hike to Taktshang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest, an iconic cliffside monastery perched high above the valley, which takes approximately five hours round trip. Later, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and holiest temples, before returning to the hotel.
