Welcome to Bergen! Your voyage begins in this beautiful city on the west coast of Norway. What began as a small village was developed by King Olav Kyree in 1070 AD and is now Norway’s second largest city. The majestic peaks that famously surround the city give Bergen its nickname, “The City of Seven Mountains”.

Located at the mouth of the river Rauma on the shores of the Romsdalfjord, Åndalsnes is a picturesque coastal town, home to about 2,000 people. The literal highlights of Åndalsnes are the mountains that tower over the town and which line the Romsdalen valley. Trollveggen, the Troll Wall, is one prominent cliff with a vertical drop of more than 1,000 metres, making it popular for BASE jumpers.

Træna is an archipelago that sits along the Helgeland coast at the edge of the Arctic Circle, 33 nautical miles northwest of the mainland. Made up of around 500 islands, islets, and skerries, only four are inhabited year-round. Spend the afternoon in one of Norway’s oldest fishing communities and maybe join a local hike. When it’s time to leave in the evening, take some time to rest onboard and unwind. We’ll cross the Arctic Circle as we continue heading north, commemorating the moment with a little Norwegian ceremony.

Today, we explore the famed Lofoten Islands. Watch for the steep mountains rising from the sea as we approach from the south in the morning. At the heart of this tiny village is the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum, which covers the importance and development of fishing in Lofoten over the last 250 years.

Tromsø is northern Norway’s urban Arctic hotspot, boasting impressive architecture, hip restaurants, and the world’s northernmost university.  You can also visit the striking Arctic Cathedral, which has an impressively large multi-coloured stained-glass window. Or ride the Fjellheisen Cable Car up Storsteinen Mountain for exceptionally beautiful views of the city, mountains, and fjords.

Upon arriving in Honningsvåg, the northernmost city of mainland Norway, you can choose from several exciting excursions. These include a bus ride to the North Cape, the northernmost point of Europe, where you can enjoy panoramic views from 307 meters above the sea, a thrilling quad bike ride to the Cape, or a hike with the Coastal Experience Team. After exploring, the ship departs, offering stunning views of the North Cape plateau from the Barents Sea as you continue your journey.

In the afternoon, you’ll view Bjørnøya (Bear Island), the southernmost island of the Svalbard archipelago. The island is barren, with only moss and lichen growing, and is home to abundant seabird colonies like Puffins, Little Auks, and Kittiwakes. Despite its name, there are no polar bears here, only Arctic foxes. This scenic stop provides a preview of your Svalbard adventure.

Today, you arrive in Svalbard and head to Spitsbergen, where stunning landscapes of mountains, tundra, and rivers of snowmelt await. At over 78°N, you’re near the North Pole with fresh, crisp air and mild summer temperatures. In the afternoon, visit Longyearbyen, the largest settlement in Svalbard, known for its history as a coal mining town and now a hub for adventurers and researchers. You can explore the town’s galleries, pubs, and museums, and choose from optional excursions like e-biking, dog sledding, or a fossil hike.

In Ny-Ålesund, one of the northernmost settlements in the world, you’ll find a research hub for over 100 scientists from various countries. Originally a coal mining town, it now hosts scientific stations focused on glaciology and climate. You can explore the town, visit the museum, or send a postcard. As you leave, enjoy stunning views of Kongsfjord, known for its towering glaciers and wildlife. Watch for walruses, migratory birds, Svalbard reindeer, and possibly even a polar bear or beluga whale in the waters.

As you sail south back to mainland Norway from Svalbard and Spitsbergen, relax and enjoy the journey. On deck, watch for whales, dolphins, and porpoises if the weather is clear. Attend a lecture on local history and wildlife, savor delicious meals from Norway’s Coastal Kitchen, and unwind with a book or conversation in the lounge or bar, reflecting on the highlights of your voyage.

After returning to mainland Norway, the first stop is Tromsø to handle cargo before heading to Senja, a stunning island known for its diverse landscapes. Often called a “mini Norway,” Senja features everything from beaches and mountains to forests and national parks. In the fishing village of Torsken, you can explore the area on an optional excursion, including by bus, e-bike, on foot, or on a wildlife safari in the fjords.

The day begins in Stokmarknes, the birthplace of Hurtigruten, with a visit to the Hurtigruten Museum and the retired MS Finnmarken. Afterward, sail through Raftsundet and Trollfjord to the stunning Lofoten archipelago, known for its dramatic cliffs. The ship will dock in Svolvær, the heart of Lofoten, where you can explore shops, restaurants, and the town. Optional excursions include fishing, kayaking, or sightseeing by foot or bus to explore the surrounding mountains, islands, and villages.

The ship reaches the Helgeland Coast, known for its distinctive mountains and local folklore. Docking in Brønnøysund, you can explore the town or take part in optional excursions like a RIB cruise. Further along, visit Torghatten Mountain, famous for its hole that runs through the center. A hike to the hole offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding islands.

The ship briefly stops in Ålesund, known for its Art Nouveau architecture and scenic location. From here, you can either explore the town or join an excursion to Hjørundfjord and Sæbø. Hjørundfjord, surrounded by the Sunnmøre Alps, is a hidden gem, and Sæbø offers optional excursions like a bus tour or hike to explore the village and its stunning surroundings. As the journey concludes, a farewell dinner celebrates the memorable Svalbard Line experience.
